Casa San Lorenzo – Our secret garden

February 29, 2012

We’ve got a secret and we’d like to share it with you.

We’re going to restore a Victorian garden that has never been used for any food production into our very own Kitchen Garden.  Wow!

We’ve always wanted to grow our own produce for the restaurants.  Now an opportunity has arisen to make that happen. We’re moving out of town to give the children some more space – and we’re gaining a one-acre site in the heart of the Esk Valley Conservation area.

With the help of our dear friend Mr Apple, Graham Stoddart at Cuddybridge and Erica Randall our Head Gardener (formerly of the Royal Botanic Gardens in Edinburgh), we’re going to bring a dream to life and start growing our own produce for Centotre and The Scottish Cafe.

From June this year, we’re hoping to have our first produce coming out of the ground and straight to your plate. It’s going to be a very exciting project.

You can keep up to date with progress on the garden through our blog posts – and also through our monthly new column in the Home Supplement in Scotland on Sunday, starting on 4th March.

Happy times at Casa San Lorenzo
