Expanding Horizons: new landscape painting exhibition

July 3, 2012

We love keeping you up to date with what’s on ‘just next door’, in the Scottish National Gallery. And the new exhibition is rather special to us, focusing as it does on an Italian artist, Giovanni Battista Lusieri.

Relatively unknown until recently, Lusieri was a very gifted landscape artist, capturing brilliant effects of light through the medium of watercolour.  The works selected for the exhibition feature Rome, Naples, Sicily, and also Greece where Lusieri spent his later years.

The exhibition is now open, and runs almost to the end of October.  And it’s downstairs at the Scottish National Gallery – so there’s no excuse not to pop into the Scottish Cafe & Restaurant in passing!

Look out too for events at the gallery over the summer, where they’ll be exploring Lusieri’s work in detail.
